Other Important Information

Adults are not permitted to run the 1-mile Children's Fun Run unless accompanying children. Adults are required to accompany children under 6 years of age. If you are running with your child, please DO NOT wear your own race number as it may trigger the chip, giving you a false timing for your own run.

No buggies, scooters, bikes, pushchairs or similar are allowed on any of the courses as they pose a safety hazard to runners. In areas where the route is narrow, please "keep left" to avoid any collisions with runners coming from the opposite direction.

Dogs and Other Spectators

Dogs are not allowed in the school grounds or on any of the courses. We would welcome and encourage spectators to support the runners throughout the course. Dogs accompanying spectators are permitted so long as the animals remain off the course itself. Please keep all dogs on a leash and be considerate to runners, particularly smaller children who can be fearful of dogs.

Child Safety

We will do all we can to create a safe environment for all people coming to the event, however, parents/carers bringing children are responsible for their wellbeing. There will be officials wearing hi-vis vests, so please talk to an official if you have any concerns.

In the rare event of a lost/found child (or vulnerable person), please report the incident immediately to the Information Desk. A protocol is in place for these types of situations and every effort will be made to repatriate the lost/found child (or vulnerable person).

Ecologically Conscious

St Barnabas Primary School is an Eco school and encourages students to think about a range of areas including waste reductionenergy savinghealthy livingwaterbiodiversitytransport and travel. Run Jericho also aspires to be an Eco event. Please consider bringing your own bottle, and arriving at the event by foot, bike or public transport if this is possible.

The organisers always go around the course after the race has finished to make sure that all areas have been cleaned of any rubbish and are in great condition, especially in Port Meadow.

We’re open to any green ideas you may have, so please get in touch.

Refreshments

Snacks, drinks and ice cream are available for purchase starting at 8:00 a.m. Our ice cream sponsor will hand out 1 free ice cream for each 1-mile child runner on the day when they present their race number.

Merchandise

Event merchandise including our popular Run Jericho branded 100% Cotton Fruit of the Loom t-shirts and jumpers for men, women and children, men’s technical t-shirts, women’s vests and children’s jogger bottoms available for purchase. 2025 line of merchandise is coming soon for pre-order. Other special sponsor promotions may be available to our runners, so please check social media and website regularly!

Headphones

The wearing of headphones and earbuds (other than those medically prescribed) is not permitted on any carriageway road that is not fully closed to traffic. Runners must be able to hear instructions from marshals in these areas. Bone conduction sports headphones are the only headphones permitted everywhere along the runs as they do not go in or over your ears allowing you to still hear marshal instructions.

Uneven Surfaces and Terrain in Certain Areas

These are multi-terrain runs and mostly flat courses, however please note that there are narrow gates, uneven surfaces and some steps leading to steep footbridges on the 5k and 10k routes. The meadow in particular can have uneven surfaces where animals have passed leaving holes and in wet conditions, there can be some muddy areas on the course. Please visit our website to familiarise yourself with the course routes.

Livestock on 5K and 10K Run Courses

Please note, in very rare instances, there may be livestock (mostly cows and horses) and other animals grazing near or on the course in Port Meadow and neighbouring areas of the 5K and 10K Runs. Remember, all animals have the right of way, as this is their territory. If you encounter animals on the course, please give them plenty of space, walk (don't run) around them, and let the nearest marshall know. If the animals appear aggressive or start to run towards you, immediately retreat to a safe location, and only continue when it is safe to do so.

Participants with Disabilities

As our races are multi-terrain, the courses include steep foot bridges, narrow gates and uneven surfaces. Unfortunately, wheelchairs cannot navigate these routes due to the steps and foot bridges. We are an inclusive event and can/have made shortened or alternative routes for participants with disabilities. Please contact the Race Director and our team will determine what special arrangements can be made. Run Jericho brings together participants who have different goals and experience, so we have provided some handy guides on training before the race.

Exhausted Runners

If you can’t finish the run and want to turn back or are near the point of collapse, please find your nearest marshall wearing a hi-vis vest so they can direct you to the safest path back to the start/finish line or contact the medical team. Please do not go backwards on the course as this poses unnecessary risks to other runners and yourself.

Run Results

Each runner will have a chip with their number that records their race times. These times can be viewed in real-time by scanning the QR code on your race number on the day and will be made available on our Results page.

Medals and Prizes

All runners will receive a finisher’s medal. The top 3 runners in each category (male and female) of each run will receive a special medal indicating their place (1st, 2nd or 3rd) as well as a prize based on chip-time.

Warm Up and Cool Down

A warm up for the 5k and 10k and a cool down for the 1-mile run will occur at approximately 9:35 a.m.

Delays and Cancellations

In case of adverse weather conditions or other circumstances beyond our control, we reserve the right to delay or cancel the event. Details of an event delay or cancellation will be communicated across our website and social media channels.

Refunds

Due to the high volume of requests, we are unfortunately unable to offer refunds or process cancellations if you can't attend on the day as planned due to injury, family emergencies, scheduling conflicts etc.  Entries are non-refundable and unfortunately cannot be deferred. A transfer to another participant is permitted until midnight on 4th June 2025.
